• I love sticky toffee pudding and would say this is more of a dessert than a cake, it is lovely warmed up a bit with ice cream or cream. It is very dense and sickly so I’m not sure I would order it as a cake again.

• I ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake for a family reunion/birthday celebration. The cake impressed everybody, we all have varying preferences, so it was difficult to decide which cake to choose. It was soft, moist and both the cake and the buttercream were beautifully flavoured. The delivery options were spot on, I opted for delivery before 12.30pm. The cake appeared to be vacuum packed, which meant it was kept impeccably fresh until it was cut and served. I will definitely reorder, hoping to try the Apple Crumble Cake next time.

• As I noted above there was a major delivery error which basically ruined everything about my order. At first customer service said they would have the cake collected and redelivered but the party the cake was intended for was over at that point, and who wants a cake that’s been at a stranger’s house?! I was not happy. But, Amy, the offered a full refund. This should probably have been the first option, but I was grateful for it. It didn’t take the sting out of the delivery disaster and the fact that my dad didn’t get his birthday cake (I live in the US and couldn’t be there which just made it worse), but it was the right thing to do. I would note that I don’t hold Sponge responsible as such, it was DHL that stupidly messed things up. I would also note that, ironically, someone brought a cake they had ordered from Sponge to my dad’s party. Everyone loves Sponge apparently!

• A very successful Father’s Day gift. Deliciously flavoured sponge, very light in texture and not overly sweet. The cake was very well presented and packaged, arriving on time. My father was delighted!
