Great Britain, a tea loving nation. Well, that’s what the rest of the world think about the UK, but we’re not the only tea loving nation there is. Interestingly, Turkey is actually the nation that consumes the most tea, per capita. And it’s International Tea Day on the 21st May so it’s time to celebrate tea!
And each country that loves tea also has a preference on what they deem to be the best cuppa. Darjeeling is known for being the most popular black Indian tea. It is light, yet nutty, bold, and robust. English Breakfast Tea is obviously the top pick for people in the UK, it has a rich and hearty flavour. This is down to it being a combination of Assam, Ceylon, and Kenyan black tea. One that may surprise you is Matcha, now if you haven’t heard of it that is because it has only recently started gaining popularity in the West quite recently. Matcha is a type of green tea mostly found in Asian countries, such as Japan. Not only is it enjoyed as a hot beverage, but it is quite often used in confectionary such as cakes.
There are so many different types of tea available, we would be going on forever if we attempted to fit them all in. But needless to say, if you enjoy hot beverages, there is likely to be a tea out there to your taste.
