It’s the time of year when we’re planning our Christmas day meal, making sure we have enough food to fill ourselves to the brink of not wanting to move for the rest of the day (as per tradition), and then eventually find some room to squeeze in a delicious dessert.
On Christmas Day a favourite dessert amongst many people in the UK is a trifle. Sherry soaked sponge fingers or cake, perhaps some fruit, a layer of strawberry jelly, a layer of custard, a layer of whipped cream, and finished off with some hundreds and thousands, and a few glace cherries. That’s how we normally make our trifles, but everyone has their own trifle recipe that their family loves.
As we know that trifles are a family favourite for the festive period, we wanted to do something a little bit different and create a cake inspired this wonderful pudding. And we have to say, we are extremely pleased with how it’s turned out!
Trifle Cake
Based on a classic traditional Christmas dessert our Trifle Cake is all about the layers! Three marsala wine flavoured sponge layers, one pink, one yellow and one white. These are sandwiched together with three layers of buttercream, strawberry at the bottom, vanilla custard in the middle and vanilla on top! Just like a trifle the top is decorated with half cherries and multicoloured sprinkles. Perfect as the centrepiece for your Christmas table this year.
Our sponge cakes are packaged in secure and robust packaging. The inner box is wrapped around the cake to securely hold it in place so the sides and top do not get damaged in transit. The box also includes a handy cutting guide! It is then put in a strong cardboard outer box for extra protection so it will arrive to you safely.

Then you can select the delivery date from our handy calendar, whether you need your order for next day delivery, or want to place your order in advance, the choice is yours! Our calendar allows you to place your order as far in advance as you would like, whether you want to order a wedding cake or order a birthday cake you can pick a delivery date that is convenient for you.
If you’re ordering a cake for a special occasion, we recommend selecting the delivery date for a day or two before you require your order to make sure it is there in plenty of time. For Christmas we are recommending selecting the latest delivery date of the 22nd or 23rd of December 2021. This is in case there are problems with the delivery (breakdowns, exceptional circumstances, or events). Our cakes and brownies have either a 7 or 10 day life from the date of dispatch, depending on the flavour, so even if they arrive a day or two early, they will still be fresh and delicious on your special occasion.
