When is World Chocolate Day? It’s on the 7th of July! We celebrate everything to do with the wonderful treat that is chocolate, and why wouldn’t we? Chocolate is a favourite treat worldwide; every country uses chocolate in some way shape or form. It’s more versatile than we often associate it with, we’ve even seen some recipes in our time of some using chocolate in savoury dishes!
More traditional uses of chocolate are as a sweet treat, with lots of sweet treats using chocolate as a base. I think it’s safe to say that the majority of us enjoy chocolate treats, so why not use World Chocolate Day as an opportunity to treat yourself or a loved one to some gloriously chocolate goodies. Here are the chocolate treats that are available from Sponge:
Whole Cakes
We have a few chocolate cake options available in our whole cakes range:
Chocolate Cake – A rich and indulgent chocolate cake, generously filled with a thick layer of chocolate buttercream. Luxurious and rich chocolate, flour and free range eggs create a moist and indulgent Sponge. English butter and chocolate create the ultimate chocolate buttercream and milk chocolate flakes decorate the top. A chocaholics dream!
Chocolate & Caramel Cake – This yummy sponge cake is flavoured with chocolate and caramel creating a marbled effect. It is sandwiched together with a generous double layer of buttercream - chocolate buttercream on the bottom and caramel buttercream on top. It is finished off with more chocolate buttercream on top, a gorgeous drizzle of chocolate, and a sprinkle of crushed salted butter pieces.
Chocolate Orange Cake – A chocolate orange cake with a light marbled sponge of orange oil & chocolate with delicious chocolate buttercream. Chocolate and natural orange flavours are swirled together to create a delicious marbled chocolate orange sponge. Buttercream is made with British butter and decadent chocolate. Three different drizzles decorate the top.
Millionaires Cake – A millionaires cake with a vanilla and chocolate cake, toffee and caramel butter icing and chocolate drizzle. Half of the sponge is hand-made with natural vanilla flavouring and free range eggs and the other half is made with indulgent chocolate. Caramel and natural toffee flavouring create a luxurious buttercream. Pretty drizzled milk and white chocolate on the top.
Rocky Road Cake – A rocky road cake with a marbled chocolate sponge, chocolate butter cream, marshmallows and crispy pearls. Naturally flavoured vanilla sponge and delicious chocolate sponge are swirled together creating an indulgent marbled sponge. English butter and chocolate create a smooth buttercream, with marshmallows and crispy chocolate pearls on top.

Vegan cakes
If you are on a dairy free or vegan diet, we wouldn’t dream of leaving you out! Here are our dairy free and vegan chocolate cake options:
Vegan Chocolate Cake – A Vegan chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream with nibbed cocoa pieces. Soya milk, chocolate and vegan butter create our delicious and indulgent vegan chocolate sponge. Our secret ingredient is coffee which really brings out the chocolate flavour! Nibbed cocoa pieces are sprinkled on top give some added crunch.
Vegan Chocolate Caramel Fudge Cake – It has a deliciously moist chocolate sponge which is sandwiched together with lashings of caramel flavoured buttercream and chunks of vegan vanilla fudge. On top you will find more caramel buttercream finished off with more chunks of delicious salted caramel fudge and a sprinkling of cocoa nibs. Fudge, caramel and chocolate are a match made in heaven!
Brownies
Who doesn’t love a rich chocolatey brownie? We aim to please with our brownie range and have lots of brownie flavours to choose from:
Triple Chocolate Brownie – Our classic Triple Chocolate Brownie is gloriously gooey in the middle with melted triple chocolate chunks running throughout. It is encased with a crunchy top and decorated with a triple chocolate drizzle.
Chocolate Orange Brownie – A classic and well loved combination of chocolate and orange make this brownie truly tempting! A gooey chocolate orange flavoured brownie with orange chocolate chunks dotted through the middle. Topped with a pretty white chocolate, dark chocolate, and orange chocolate drizzle effect. Hazelnut Praline Brownie – This decadent and creamy Hazelnut Praline brownie is a nutella lover's dream! The rich and gooey chocolate brownie has hazelnut praline and roasted hazelnut pieces running through it. It is then topped with more hazelnut pieces and spun in deliciously dark chocolate.
Raspberry & White Chocolate Brownie – Our luxurious White Chocolate and Raspberry Brownies are the perfect blend of gooey rich chocolate, sharp raspberries and sweet white chocolate. Raspberry pieces and white chocolate chunks run through the middle, and on the top is a pretty raspberry and white chocolate drizzle with a sprinkling of delicious raspberry pieces.
Speculoos Biscoff Brownie – A delicious chocolate brownie - gloriously gooey in the middle with melted triple chocolate chunks running throughout, topped with a generous layer of biscoff spread and then covered with a crunchy biscoff crumb. Chocolate and biscoff work perfectly together giving the chocolate brownies a dark caramel flavour with hints of cinnamon and other spices.
