As you will have seen over the weekend the government has announced another national lockdown. We want to reassure you that we will still be able to continue supplying cakes for your special occasions.
We have had social distancing measures implemented in our bakery for several months now, which has enabled us to carry on baking cakes and brownies and delivering them straight to the door, and this new lockdown will not change that.
So, there is no need to worry, you will still be able to place orders for all of your special occasions. We have a calendar system at the checkout (after you enter delivery details) where you can check the dates available for delivery.
As you can imagine the courier network is incredibly busy at the moment, on some days setting all-time records for the number of parcels they are processing, while at the same time dealing with keeping their staff safe. It is only going to get busier again, especially in the run-up to the festive period. Therefore, although DHL are aware of our cakes and brownies need to be delivered as soon as possible due to their perishability, they have advised us that some deliveries are taking 48hrs rather than the normal 24hrs, so please bear with them and allow 48 hours for any deliveries.
Royal Mail will also be seeing an increase in volume in the coming weeks, as we have advised previously, their delivery volume hasn't decreased over the last few months. Therefore it is very possible that your cake card, or any order that is being sent by Royal Mail, could be delayed. Please bear this in mind when choosing your delivery date as cake card deliveries are estimates and not a guarantee. We send everything out 1st class and allow 48 hours for delivery. Unfortunately, in some cases, Royal Mail are still needing longer to make deliveries.
As always, for special occasions, such as birthdays, we recommend selecting a delivery date before the event. As it currently stands, we would advise selecting a delivery date 2 days before the special day. This will allow plenty of time for your cake to arrive for the event.
Do not worry about your cake’s freshness due to ordering in advance, our fruit-based cakes (e.g. apple crumble) stay fresh for up to 7 days, while our non-fruit-based cakes (e.g. chocolate) stay fresh for up to 10 days. Our brownies stay fresh for up to 10 days as well.
