Apple crumble is a traditional dessert in the UK, often a family favourite in many households. It’s made by stewing apples with sugar and a little bit of water, then a mixture of plain flour and butter is made into crumble (usually resembling breadcrumbs) and placed on top of the stewed apple and baked. Some even choose to put oats in with the crumble topping for added texture.
We love apple crumble as a dessert and so we created our very own apple crumble cake recipe, inspired by this glorious treat. It’s made with real apple pieces, juicy sultanas, cinnamon, and free-range eggs which make a wonderfully light and tasty sponge. Real butter and natural vanilla flavouring create a luscious buttercream with crumble on top.
This gorgeous looking and tasting cake is also available as gluten-free. It looks and tastes as good as our standard cake; the only difference is that it’s made with gluten-free flour and suitable for those with gluten intolerance.
