This year we are supporting Wood Green Animal - The Animals Charity to help raise funds for all the great work they do to help pets - as seen on Channel 4's TV series The Dog House.
The Dog House eight-part documentary focused on how Wood Green match homeless dogs with the perfect new owner - with approximately 1 million people tuning in to watch each episode! Not only do they do great work with dogs but they also work at helping and rehoming many other types of pets including cats, guinea pigs, chinchillas, ferrets, and chickens!
Wood Green's mission is not only to care for every animal that needs them but to make sure you have the most fulfilling relationship with your pet. We think the work they do is fantastic - many of the Sponge team have pets ranging from dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and chickens so it is a cause close to our heart.
To raise money for the charity we are bringing out a range of pet-themed Cake Cards - we will be donating £1 for each pet card sold via this category to raise funds for Wood Green's great work. Our personalised pet-themed Cake Cards are a fun, unique and quirky gift to send to a pet owner for their birthday, special occasion or just because. Our dog birthday cards and cat birthday cards are the perfect gifts to send to a pet owner - we have lots of different breeds and varieties to choose from. We will also be bringing out new small animal pet cards featuring guinea pigs, rabbits and more! We will have lots of different card fronts available - perhaps you know someone that has just got a new puppy? We will even have a congratulations on your new puppy card! You can add a slice or two of delicious sponge cake - we have lots of different flavours including gluten free and vegan cakes. Or you could even add in little extras like hot chocolate, tea or coffee or an occasional gift!
As important as raising funds is for the charity to support the animals we decided we wanted to treat the staff and volunteers over Christmas. With over 300 staff spread across three sites in Cambridge, Hertfordshire and London and with many working over the festive period to make sure the animals are well looked after we thought they deserved a treat! The week before Christmas we sent out a big batch of our Baby Sponge Cakes for them all to enjoy.
