Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake
Our Sticky Toffee Pudding cake is handmade using date puree, toffee butter cream and is actually inspired by the popular British dessert, to create a wonderfully delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding cake.
It is the perfect cake to cosy up with during the autumn and winter months with a hot drink - and also tastes amazing warmed up a little bit and served with custard for a delicious dessert!
The Sticky Toffee Pudding as a dessert originated in England and is a spongy date cake topped with rich toffee sauce. The dessert has a very soft texture and sauce that goes through the cake! For our own special Sticky Toffee Cake, we have taken all the best bits from the dessert to make it in to a yummy cake version, held together with a warming toffee buttercream.
History of the Classic Sticky Toffee Pudding.
Sticky Toffee Pudding, a popular steam dessert, using dates, rich toffee sauce and accompanied with custard, cream or ice cream. It is understood that the original Sticky Toffee Pudding was produced by Francis Coulson at Sharrow Bay Country House Hotel in the Lake District in the 1970’s. The recipe was so secret that the original recipe is considered a culinary legend, and members of staff at Sharrow Bay signed a secrecy agreement not to reveal the recipe. The warming comfort that the Sticky Toffee Pudding provides, is perfect for the harsh cold weather the Lake District experiences.
Although it has now been revealed that Francis Coulson did not create the recipe, but in fact got it from a Patricia Martin from Claughton in Lancashire. It was also discovered that she got the recipe from two Canadian Air force officers who had stayed in the hotel during the Second World War.
Our Sticky Toffee Sponge Cake encompasses all the delicious flavours of a Sticky Toffee Pudding, within one of our delicious cakes! In a yummy twist on this great British Classic.

The key ingredient of our Sticky Toffee Cake is our home-made date Puree, that is combined with free range eggs, golden syrup, and treacle to create our deliciously sweet sticky toffee pudding cake. The buttercream is even made with natural toffee and vanilla flavouring, and with British butter.

You will not be disappointed by our delicious Sticky Toffee Sponge Cake! Make sure to store your cake in a warm and cosy place in an air-tight container - they don't like to be stored in the fridge! You can however freeze them for up to 6 months if you would like to save some for later ;)
